These Shoes Were Made for Walking....??

We've all heard that the recommended number of steps is 10,000 steps daily, right?  This summer, I was given a pedometer from work and was all excited to see how many steps I walked.  After wearing it for a couple of days, I got discouraged on how few steps I took a day, and the pedometer has been sitting on my dresser collecting dust ever since.  Yesterday, a co-worker commented about how often I walk up and down the stairs at work; which got me curious to count my steps again.  I decided to dust off the good ol' pedometer today and give it a go again...

...and as you can see, this pedometer is clearly telling me that I am lazy!  2,438 steps....the pedometer has got to be wrong, right?!  I must have walked more than 2,438 steps throughout the day.  I've only reached 24% of the recommended steps for the day.  Wow!  You would think that the Wellness Coordinator at a Recreation Center would get a little more physical activity during her day.  However, I have found that I workout less now that I have this job and am at a fitness center all day than I did before this job. Something has GOT to change!!  The big question now is do I wear the pedometer again tomorrow and see how I do or just put it back on my dresser to collect dust?
