April showers bring....

...May flowers.  What do may flowers bring?  Pilgrims!  (Remember that from elementary school?!)  Or in my case, May brings running!  A few weeks ago I decided I needed to get back into running and that I was going to start in May. I needed a couple weeks to mentally prepare myself to start running again.  This past Sunday was the first of May and I had a game plan on how I would go about running. The plan was to go to 7am mass and then come home and go out for a run.  The earlier in the morning I went meant that I had less time to come up with excuses why not to go running.  Sunday morning arrived and I stuck to my plan!  I was out pounding the pavement at 8:15am that morning.  I think I had forgotten to let Mother Nature in on my plan though, since it was cold and windy that morning.  It wasn't the most pleasant weather but it felt good to be out running again.

We jump ahead a few days and I wanted to get another run in this week.  Looking at my schedule, my evenings were filling up quickly, which left no time in there for running after work.  The only solution was to get up early and go running before work.  Yes, you read that correctly!  And I'm sure you are skeptical of this idea, just like my mom was when I told her my idea.  I don't blame her though, since I have a hard enough time getting up normally when my alarm clock goes off to make it to work on time.  But, the alarm clock went off and I rolled out of bed at 5:20am.  I first had hoped it was raining so I could go back to sleep for another hour.  I realized that it is still really dark outside at 5:30am...a little too dark for me to go running, so I did a few stretches and waited until 5:45am.  As I headed out the door, I gave Mom a quick phone call to prove that I was up and then it was off for an early morning run.  It was a nice morning and very peaceful out!  I really enjoyed starting my day off like this!  (I can't believe I'm saying that!)  Hopefully I can get into the habit of running before work a couple days a week...

These morning runs fit nicely with the MCP Project 52 theme for the week.  My pile of running clothes and shoes represents what I did first thing this morning.

And now I'm off to bed since it's been a long day...
