Snow Day!!

This morning I thought I had chosen the wrong profession while I was driving to work on the horrible, snowy roads and my teacher friends were home with a snow day.  I received the greatest email at work this morning at 11:45am from UMKC saying that the University was closing at 1pm.  Woohoo!  That meant a snow day (afternoon)!  We have a good 6 inches of snow or more and it's just so pretty.  What better way to spend the afternoon off work than heading to the park to play in the snow.  I can't remember the last time I went and played in the snow.  It was so much fun!

It was perfect sledding weather but Wal-Mart didn't have any good sleds to buy, so being the smart people we are, we decided to improvise.  Using lids from Rubbermaid storage containers did NOT work quite the same as a plastic sled.  However, it provided quite the entertainment watching Kristen try it.  Since sledding was a bust, we headed over to the playground to see if we could find something else to do.  And let me tell you, the playground slides were GREAT FUN and FAST!  After an hour and a half outside playing in the snow, it was time to head home for some hot chocolate.  It was such a great afternoon.  I'm thankful for teacher friends who also had a snow day to enjoy the afternoon off with.  Please, Mother Nature, if you keep snowing hopefully we can have tomorrow as a snow day too!
