A taste of Kansas wineries

With the realization that this would most likely be my last summer in the Kansas City area, a friend asked if I had a bucket list of things I wanted to experience.  The bucket list is still a work in progress but I was able to check one item off yesterday...wine tasting at some Kansas wineries!  Katie, Kristen and I followed the Somerset Wine Trail, which included three wineries that were about 45 minutes south of us.  We started the wine trail at the Somerset Ridge Vineyard & Winery and tasted some very yummy wines!  It was such a cute winery and would be fun to go back again with friends and bring a picnic lunch (which is very much allowed! Maybe another item for the bucket list!).  We continued on down the road to the second winery, Nighthawk Vineyard & Winery, which was tucked back in a very peaceful and relaxing location.  After a few more tastings, the owner showed us around the vineyard and talked about the different grapes used for the different wines.  The third (and final) winery along the wine trail was the Middle Creek Winery.  This was a cute, little winery that was originally a horse barn.  A few more wines were tasted and more time was spent enjoying the beautiful weather and wandering through the vineyards.  It was such a fun afternoon...the wineries were cute and had some good wine, the drive through the country was pretty and very much what I think Kansas should look like and the company was great!  You can't ask for much more on a Saturday afternoon!

Which way to the next winery, Katie??
